Firstly, before we start answering all your questions about NYSC relocation, we would explain what NYSC relocation also know as NYSC redeployment is all about and the basis on which a corps member can apply for redeployment on and also how long the NYSC relocation takes. 

NYSC relocation is simply the process of relocation from the state you were posted to, to another state. For instance, Ahmed was posted to Osun state, perhaps due to some reasons he decides to relocate from Osun state to Lagos State. 

This brings us to the basis or reasons a corp member can apply for relocation. 

What are the basis for applying for relocation ?

There are two major reasons accepted by NYSC for relocation. The first basis for relocation is on Marriage basis and secondly health basis. NYSC relocation or redeployment is now done on the NYSC portal, which is often addressed as the NYSC relocation portal. 

Marriage Basis:

A corp member can apply for relocation using marriage as  an excuse, for instance a corps member is married and spouse resides in a different state from the state he or she was posted to, such a corps member can apply for the NYSC relocation online. 

Health Basis:

The second relocation excuse accepted by NYSC for redeployment is on health grounds, in essence Corper Ahmed has some critical health cases that requires he stays close to the health facility where he is receiving treatment, this health conditions can also be accepted by NYSC, in the next lines we will address how you can apply for relocation on the NYSC portal.

How to apply for NYSC redeployment online:

The process for NYSC relocation is straight forward, using the two basis we stated earlier. 

1. Visit the NYSC relocation portal here 
2. Enter your email address and password 
3. Click on Resume to Login 
4. Ensure you are using a desktop to perform this process 
5. On the left pane, locate “relocation”
6. You will see an option to choose reason for your application, which is either marriage or health conditions 
7. After selecting your reason for applying for relocation
8. You will be expected to submit a document as prove, for instance marriage basis will require a marriage certificate or change of name publication, this process must have also been done during your registration process, see our article on NYSC registration process. For health basis, you will be expected to submit a medical report from your doctor, the medical report is expected to have the hospitals letter head, your health conditions, doctors name, and a stamp and signature from the doctor. What are the Requirements for applying for  NYSC relocation online?

Before applying for relocation on the NYSC portal, you should note that their are requirements and criteria a corp member must meet. 

The core requirements for marriage cases is the marriage certificate or any form of identification that a corp member is truly married, While for Health cases, you must have a solid report from your medical doctor and all documents must be duly signed, this are the requirements needed before you get started with applying for relocation. 

How long does NYSC relocation take ?

The NYSC relocation portal opens when corp member have registered in camp, the NYSC relocation portal usually opens same week NYSC camping commences. This gives room for corp members to apply within the 2weeks into the NYSC camping, now the big question is how long does the NYSC relocation take to reflect?, the result of the relocation reflects same day NYSC orientation camp ends, in essence, after the 3 weeks in camp, the relocation should reflect on your dashboard if successful, most times relocations can be denied by NYSC. And a corp member can only apply again after 3 months. 

How to check my NYSC relocation status ?

Here are procedures to check your relocation status on your NYSC portal dashboard: 

1. Visit portal.nysc.gov.ng
2. Enter your email address and password to Login 
3. On the left pane, click on relocation to check if it was successful
4. You can “accept” or “reject” relocation. 

How to print NYSC relocation letter

1. Go to your NYSC dashboard through portal.nysc.gov.ng
2. Enter your email address and password to Login 
3. On the left pane, click on relocation to check if it was successful
4. Ensure to accept relocation 
5. Click on print to print the document 
6. Connect to a printer to proceed 
7. You can also choose to save to your phone.

How to cancel relocation on NYSC portal

After applying for relocation, you can also cancel or reject relocation by following the process below: 

1. Visit portal.nysc.gov.ng
2. Enter your email address and password to Login 
3. Hover to left and click on relocation 
4. Click on “reject relocation” to cancel relocation. 

After NYSC relocation what next ?

One of the crucial questions corp members ask is what happens after your relocation was successful. The next thing after NYSC relocation is to report to the state you have been redeployed to. See the steps to take after a successful relocation below 

What are the steps after NYSC relocation ?

1. Print your NYSC relocation letter, see process for printing relocation letter above 
2. Go to the new state you were redeployed to for documentation 
3. Report at the NYSC secretariat of the state.
4. Ensure to go with the following documents. 
   (a) Previous posting letter (original copy)
   (b) Relocation letter (original copy)
   (c) NYSC ID CARD having your former state code 
   (d) Account details given to your in the NYSC orientation camp
5. Ensure to do this documentation within 21 days after you left the orientation camp. 

NYSC relocation after 3 months

Due to some cases when relocations are denied by NYSC, corps members still have privilege to re-apply after 3 months and also the application for redeployment is always free.
