these steps to apply on the NELFUND student loan portal:
1. Visit https://portal.nelf.gov.ng/auth/register
2. Choose “Nigerian†as your nationality
3. Click on “Verify Educational Informationâ€
4. Select your school and enter your Matric Number
5. Click “Verify†to continue
6. Create your account with a valid email and password
7. Confirm your account through the email sent to you

9. Enter your Phone number, Residential Address, JAMB registration number, and School Registration number
10. Enter your Bank details, BVN, Bank name, and Account number

applying

confirm if your request has been approved. Once approved, you may need to
submit extra documents to your school before the money is paid.
How Much Can You Get From NELFUND?
The amount depends on your school fees and other needs.
Students can receive up to ₦600,000.
Example: If your tuition fee is 250,000 Naira, you will receive a total sum of 300,000 Naira or more and
a monthly stipend of 20,000 Naira for upkeep (20,000 × 12 months), bringing the
total to 440,000 Naira.
NELFUND Student Loan Repayment and Duration
You’ll start paying back two years after NYSC. You can
choose to pay once or pay 10% of your monthly income until the loan is fully
repaid.
Loan approval may take 1 to 6 months, depending on your
school’s processing time.
Can Postgraduate Students Apply?
No. The NELFUND loan is currently for undergraduate students
only.
However, the government has mentioned that postgraduate students may be
included later.
