for admission into the National Open University of Nigeria for the different Degree
Programs, Master's, and Ph.D.
Note: All applicants are expected to possess a minimum
of 5 credits in O-Level results, inclusive of English and mathematics, and also NOUN Regularization during application is done on
JAMB CAPS.
National Open University Requirements for
Undergraduates 2026
For Undergraduate applicants, you will be required to apply
using the following.
1. Birth Certificate or Declaration of Age
2. Original copies and photocopies of all relevant academic
qualifications, including O-Level result(s), ND, NCE, HND, or First Degree
certificates as applicable.
3. NOUN Admission Letter
4. Evidence of Payment (via Remita)
5. Academic Certificates and Transcripts
6. NYSC Certificate (if applicable)
7. Passport Photographs (Minimum of 5)
8. Professional Certificates (if applicable)
9. Programme-Specific Licenses/Certificates
Public Health Programme: CHO/CHEW Certificate
Nursing Programme: Registered Nurse License
Environmental Health Programme: Registered Midwifery or Medical Laboratory

National Open University Requirements for Master's Degree
2026
1. Applicants must have at least five (5) O-Level credits,
including English and Mathematics, in no more than two sittings.
2. Nigerian applicants must present an NYSC discharge or
exemption certificate.
3. A Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of Second Class Lower or
an HND in a related field is required for PGD entry.
4. Two academic reference letters and a statement of purpose
are required.
National Open University Requirements for Ph.D Degree
2026
For Ph.d prospective applicants into NOUN, you are expected
to apply with the following:
1. PhD Law applicants must hold an LLM or MPhil with at least
60% or a 4.00 CGPA on a 5.00 scale.
2. Candidates with a minimum CGPA of 3.50 may apply for a PhD/MPhil in a relevant field.
3. A Master’s degree with at least a 4.00 CGPA on a 5.00 scale
from NOUN or any Senate-recognised university is required.
4. All PhD applicants will undergo oral or written interviews.

are enrolling in.
